The brief
Masons were employed to install scaffolding to facilitate the erection of a new roof level area on the rear spine area of the building.
The brief was to design, erect & strike a hoist support scaffold tied to building to top roof level together with two tonne passenger and goods hoist. This necessitated full perimeter edge protection to building and a full height system staircase together with temporary roof scaffolds and new plantroom/lift area scaffolds.
Overview
The space in which the scaffolding and hoist needed to be erected was very tight once welfare had been put in place, so the hoist was delivered prior to welfare being installed and then erected at a later date as agreed. The scaffold was erected in line with the designs provided by PSD and the hoist was installed by GB Access with ties directly into the building structure to avoid clashes with the scaffold bracing. All standards were as per design. A full height staircase was erected adjacent to the hoist and all went gone according to plan with erection completed ahead of programme.
