The brief
To design, erect & progressively strike a full demolition scaffold & gantry to the existing building on all elevations.
Overview
The construction of a 145-room hotel is underway opposite St Paul’s Cathedral, with the property’s Grade II listed façade undergoing extensive refurbishment to preserve its architectural heritage.
The building is on a very busy main road a few hundred yards from St Paul’s Cathedral and The Old Bailey. The side elevations are on very narrow roads. The solution was a gantry on the Front Elevation with beamed/cantilevered solutions on the narrow street areas where the pavement width, coupled with the very narrow road necessitated careful designing which took all of this into consideration. All was approved by O’Keefe and their client, McAleer & Rushe with engineers amending/changing site requirements throughout the works
