The brief

The project is based around an internal fit out for a new client, and we were asked to design various complexed scaffolds on all the elevations to assist with external restoration works and internal access for the fit out. The tasks in front of the team were to erect a heavy-duty gantry with a 10kn per square meter loading, to install a 1-ton passenger and good hoist, and to install a 1-ton beam hoist to allow lifting of material from the roadside up to gantry level.

The challenges we faced

The main challenges we faced was the erection of the gantry as it needed to be erected out of normal working hours due to the high foot fall on Regent Street. We also faced challenges with the complexity of the gantry, but our team overcame it very well by using a wealth of experience that they possessed. There was also a night delivery of the 1-ton hoist that meant we had to get a part road closure that is never an easy task on Regent Street.

Interesting facts about the project

308 Regent Street once the project is finished will be a very high-end office space with all the modern facilities you would come to expect. The office space is all based around open plan working and socializing within the workspace, as Apple and other leading brands have shown that this is highly effective in getting the best out of the team. Also, you do not have to travel far if you fancy some West end shopping.

Outcome

The front scaffold was dismantled in time for the Christmas lights to be switched on, ensuring a festive and unobstructed view for all. The rear scaffold dismantled according to our planned schedule ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
