Introducing Nigel Mardon, the latest member of the Masons crew

What’s your job title?

Operations manager

What does your job involve?

I am responsible for building key relationships with clients, to enable the successful delivery of scaffolding for construction projects. I am also involved in instigating and reviewing the scaffold design, as well as ensuring we are meeting HSEQ standards. Essentially, I manage, supervise and monitor every detail to ensure the safe and successful completion of all our projects.

What’s your background?

I have been involved in managing large scale scaffolding projects for over thirty years, firstly as a scaffold foreman. Since then, I’ve performed other roles including contracts supervisor, contracts manager and operations manager, predominately working for one company, Trad Scaffolding. I started work as a scaffolder in 1989 and managed to work my way up to the role I’m in today.

What’s your favourite part of your job/What are you most looking forward to in your job?

I love passing on my experience to young scaffolders coming into the game. Also, working with new people and experiencing new challenges.

Why Masons Scaffolding?

The opportunity arose to team up with an old colleague, Neil Garner, whom I’ve known and worked with for over 20 years. After meeting Grant Mason, I it was evident that he has a clear vision of where he wants the company to go, and his enthusiasm is contagious,  it felt like a team I very much wanted to be part of.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I play golf when I have time and also enjoy watching my grandson play football.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

 Loyal, reliable and hardworking.

We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?

Pint of beer, or a scotch and coke.
