The brief

The project was initially proposed for an internal fit out only and we were asked to design and provide a series of hoist run off platforms to the rear elevation in Kendall Place. However, with the introduction of new roof skylights, the project developed into a complex independent and rear support for three temporary roofs to facilitate these works including pedestrian protection and gantries at ground level.

The challenges we faced

Much of the work was around a very busy junction which required night work in the initial stages and we also had to negotiate our deliveries to suit local businesses and the red route on Baker Street. We were also under pressure to achieve a tight programme but with careful planning and the use of mobile cranes we managed to build the bulk of the scaffold in five weeks.

Interesting facts about the project

Sherlock Holmes lived up the road and there’s a decent Pret on the corner.

Outcome

The project has been a great success with the aesthetic look in alignment with how Masons Scaffolding expect their projects to look and all erected to high safety standards including the use of combi fans on Baker Street. Our client is very happy with the overall outcome and work continues internally.
