The brief

The Masons Scaffolding team were tasked with providing high level external access along with various lifting aids positioned on the underside of a temporary roof and at gantry level for our project at 31-34 Alfred Place, located in the heart of the West End, just off of Tottenham Court Road.

Overview

Our client enlisted our services in order to assist their refurbishment works of the 5th floor in addition to the transformation of the roof terrace, which involved preventing water ingress into the live building.

The challenges we faced

Working in and around a live building situated in a high foot fall area of London meant that we had to come up with various measures to mitigate risks including enforcing exclusion zones, traffic management, road closure and out of hours working.

Interesting facts about the project

The project has a unique south elevation in the set up and formation of the beam works to support the temporary works (roof) – which was fully designed and thoroughly risk assessed.

Outcome

While this project is still ongoing, Masons Scaffolding is committed to delivering an outcome that not only meets but exceeds expectations. Dismantling will start in the Summer of 2024 for our valued client Faithdean.
