The brief

We were approached by one of our valued clients Faithdean PLC who were the appointed contractor for the project at St Andrews Street which involves a full office refurbishment with the construction of 2 additional floors in addition to a rooftop garden on the 9th floor overlooking the City of London.

Overview

The Masons Scaffolding team were tasked with providing full external access for remedial works to the existing facades, as well as providing full working access for the additional levels to be constructed.

The challenges we faced

Due to the project being situated in the heart of the business district, we had to comply with certain restrictions regarding noise and deliveries. Additionally, due to the high foot fall within the area, we incorporated various measures in our planning in order to minimise disruption, this included enforcing exclusion zones, traffic management, road closure and out of hours working.

Interesting facts about the project

In our continued effort to reduce manual handling, we devised a plan to build the 22M bridge section at our London depot, before then transporting it to site in three preassembled sections. Once received at site, our team had to reassemble the bridge which was used to provide full access to the side elevation that bridged the neighbouring building with the assistance of Bronze Shield Lifting Services crane.

Outcome

Our favourite part of the project was seeing the end result which has gathered recognition from not only our clients, but competitors too. As well as being chosen for a feature within The Scaffolding Association’s magazine, Access Point.
